The TU Collaborative is Hosting Virtual Story Slams!
We are being presented with a unique opportunity to find new ways to connect and participate in our communities while practicing physical distancing. We are hosting a series of virtual Story Slams focused on how we are finding ways to connect with each other and participate in our communities while taking care of each other by practicing physical distancing.
- Long distance connections: May 7th, 2020 at 3:00 pm EST
- Delightful Delays: TBA
- Meaningful Moments with Mom: TBA
- School’s Out: TBA
Story Telling Workshops: In an effort to support individuals with physically distancing, we have a series of storytelling workshops. These are facilitated by our community inclusion specialist. Tuesdays from 2-3 EST are an introduction to storytelling and Thursdays 2-4 EST are open workshop times. These are designed to support individuals to create their stories and share them in one of our story slams! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to connect with our community inclusion specialist.
You do not have to attend these sessions to tell a story! Your story must be between 3 and 5 minutes long. After 5 minutes, we will have to cut folks off in order to give everyone an opportunity to tell their story. Your story must be based on your experiences and true to you.
We ask that all stories and attendees are respectful of diverse experiences, beliefs, lifestyles, and backgrounds. Hate speech, racism, or other forms of discrimination will be cut off and the user removed from the Slam.
Registration/Contact Info: Register for the first Story Slam here! If you have any questions, please contact Kyra at email@example.com.
If you are a service provider looking to host your own story slam or simply support people to tell their own stories, stay tuned – we are developing training resources for you!
