Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion

The Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion is engaged in research and knowledge development activities that are translated into practical information to support full and meaningful community participation of individuals with mental illnesses.

Our focus:

“The opportunity to live in the community and to be valued for one’s uniqueness and abilities like everyone else.” (Salzer, 2006)

The Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion:

  1. a) targets obstacles that prevent people with mental illnesses from being full members of their communities;

  2. b) identifies the supports consumers and communities need to enhance the prospects for community integration; and

  3. c) expands the range of opportunities for people who have mental illnesses to participate in their communities as active and equal members.

This work supports United States laws and policies, especially those associated with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Supreme Court Olmstead Decision.
